- Hiking
Fjelltun (750m) is a starting point for both easy and more strenuous hikes. It is
situated at the foot of Rondane national park. Behind Fjelltun lies the Alvdal Vestfjell
region (dubbed ‘a well-kept secret’). Generally speaking, the footpaths are well
marked. Various mountains such as Storsølnkletten (1827m) and Høgronden
(2118m) can be climbed. Maps of Rondane and Alvdal Vestfjell are for sale on the
premises.
- Cycling
Both Rondane and Alvdal Vestfjell offer opportunities for cycling. A tour avoiding
precipitous terrain and offering varied views is ‘the round of Sollia’. Bicycles can be
hired in Folldal.
- Canoeing and rowing
Lake Atnsjø and the Fjelltun rowing boat means an entertaining day. The view from
the lake embraces a splendid outlook of Rondane mountain tops. The Atna river
makes for good canoeing (more active). Canoes can be hired nearby.
- Fishing
There is brown trout fishing in the lakes and arctic char fishing in the rivers. Lake
Atnsjø and Setningen are widely renowned for excellent fishing. Lake Atnsjø is at
walking distance from Fjelltun and fishing permits are for sale on the premises.
- Photography
For a photographer every season in Rondane is a feast for the eyes because of the
play of light and sky Norway is known for. Rondane plains present the most beautiful
vistas.
- And more
Would you like to go on a musk ox safari? In Hjerkinn daily hikes along the plateau
are organised from 22nd June to 22nd August. Or would you rather go horse riding? In
both Sollia and Folldal are stables where horses can be hired.
